  • A guide on common network issues with using 10.0.0.0 and solutions to fix them

Despite immense efforts to keep the networks error free, things never go smooth. It is quite common and frequent to face network issues and one cannot avoid it. Here is a complete guide on network issues and tips to resolve them.

    Duplicate IP addresses

This error occurs when two devices share the same IP address. The error flashes as “Address already in use”

    Reason

The error occurs when the router is trying to assign a new address to the device. There are default DHCP configuration. DHCP is Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol where the server dynamically assigns an IP address to each device for the network to communicate with devices.

The problem here is the DHCP is trying to assign an address when another device is already occupying these addresses.

    Solution

Reboot the modem to get a new address. The DHCP stops allocating the conflicting address. This because, when the connection is reset, the device is considered as a new device.

    IP address exhaustion

This error occurs when the router is unable to generate addresses for the new devices entering the network. Use the ipconfig command. There will be no address received. A http://www.upylondon.com/10-0-0-0-1/ is found at the place of address.

If no IP address is received from the DHCP, the router begins to assign addresses itself. This again arises conflicting issues because, it does not have the knowledge, which address is in use and which is not.

    Reason

Here the problem is that limited IP addresses are available. The problem also arises when the devices are tried to connect directly to the router by passing the router.

    Solution

Use WI Fi access points with integrated router. This creates a local pool of internal addresses. If the network already has a local pool, then the address pool might be too small. Always connect the devices through the modem.

    DNS problems

It includes errors such as The Network path cannot be found, DNS name does not exist and IP address cannot be found.

    Reason

If an incorrect DNS is specified this type of errors occur

    Solution

The error can be fixed by configuring TCP/IP properties. It should be allowed to obtain the address automatically.

    1. Open Control Panel
    2. Select Network and Internet Connections
    3. Double click Local Area Connection
    4. Check on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and select Properties
    5. On the TCP/IP dialogue box under general tab, choose the option “Obtain an IP address automatically”
    6. If the user knows the IP address and its related information, he can choose the option “Use the following IP address” and fill in the following
      1. IP address
      2. Subnet mask
      3. Default gateway

    How to prevent this error?

The error can be prevented by changing the network DHCP settings to directly access your DNS servers.

Single work station unable to connect to the network

This error means that except for one device all the other devices are working well. When the ip address of the device is checked it gives a http://www.upylondon.com/10-0-0-0-1/.

    Reasons

This may be because of poor Wi Fi signal, failure of network card, incorrect drivers, bad cable, no proper cable connection, etc.

    Solution

To solve the problem, ensure the network adapter is configures with correct IP, subnet and DNS servers.

The same protocol explained above is used to do this. However, in the last after opening the TCP/IP properties, under “Use the following IP address” fill in the details of the 3 identifiers.

Unable to connect to local file or printer shares

These are sharing problem. They are the most challenging network problems to solve. This is because a number of factors need to configured to fix the issue.

    Reason

Sharing problems arise mainly due to conflicts between mixed security environments. It also occurs when the devices connected to the network use different security models.

    Solution

    1. Ensure that the mandatory services are running. The following are the necessary services
      1. TCP/IP NetBIOS helper
      2. Browser services
      3. Workstation
      4. On LINUX, Samba is the primary service that should be ON while it is sharing with Windows
    2. Make sure the firewalls are disabled. This is because when a new anti – virus is installed, the firewall of the workstation configures to block the file
    3. All the workstations should be on the same subnet.
    4. The following should be enabled on the windows network adapter in control panel
      1. File and Printer sharing for Microsoft networks
      2. Client for Microsoft networks
      3. NetBIOS over TCP/IP
    5. Apart from the above the following should also be checked
      1. Incorrect NTFS permissions – This is should be enabled for the files to get shared among the devices connected in the network
      2. Network type set to public – Only then the devices are visible to other devices and the files can be shared with the desired device
      3. Incorrectly configured HomeGroup
      4. Systems configured with wrong domain.

    Local Network unable to connect

These are intermittent failures. These problems are caused from the Network provider sides.

    Solution

With heavy competition, there are always better service providers. The user should only focus on removing as many middle men as possible in selecting the better ISP. He should be well responsive providing high speed connectivity

Though there are other problems and solutions associated with IP addresses and their configurations, the above problems are common.
